I don't know whether people read these books anymore. I wonder if the Internet has effectively censored the truth by crowding it out with millions of competing sites, some even deliberately fake created in an instant by foreign governments using the internet to misinform and steer the public opinion to their interests. Maybe it's already happened with Bannon and the so called alt right. Maybe there are no longer any facts, which means that there are no longer any lies or accountability for making them. Maybe books burning was easily identified as an attack and internet propaganda is not. Maybe the consensus of people you can get to believe your lies is more important than the number of people who still think about facts instead of feel about positions. Hopefully.

The modern misinformation campaign seemed to originate with fear porn profiteers like Alex Jones of Prison Planet and Inforwars and Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com. I think that more powerful entities have seen the light with respect to the utility of internet misinformation. This includes foreign governments and multinational corporations.
