Was curious what people's take is with how the US policy should interact with Cuba now that relations are softening, but Raul is still a DickTater? To be honest, I'm on the fence. In some ways, I see a softening of relations as has been happening as progress towards better relations, and, that could in turn perhaps open up Raul's policies on his people. In other regards, I see it as supporting a dictator which just encourages him to keep rulimg his people in the same brutal methods.

Commercial, scheduled airline flights to Cuba have just begun.  Reasonable fares.  Go now while you can.

Yes, one of like 12 reasons. I'm sure its not too hard to align yourself with one of those reasons if you really want to go.

I agree, but you still can't just head over to OIA with your credit card and go. Freedom!

A Cuban doctor here told me they would provide you great care while there, if you brought all the prescriptions you would need with you.

They seem well educated enough to know what you need, but don't have access to much of it.

I know church people who go there all the time, and part of what they try to take to the the needy Cubans are basics like Tylenol/Advil (child and adult strengths), and used eyeglases.

My dad said their electrical work is horrendously frightening, even by Latin American standards. Fortunately, the power is off often enough that if you do bump into an exposed wire, it might not have any juice to it at the time.

Beautiful island, good hard working people. Maybe it could be the 52nd state.

Haha, not. But, yes, all people, in every country, US, Cuba, and every other country on this planet are good, hard working people, including Iran, North Korea, and Russia. They just happen to have dipshit leaders, just like Cuba.
