I like this strategy of taking out commanders rather than SHOCK-and-AWE. Much more effective in my opinion....

"U.S.-led coalition which has bombed the militants while conducting special operations to take out their commanders.

Of the 43 founders of Islamic State, also known as ISIS, ISIL or Daesh, 39 have been killed, said Hisham al-Hashimi, a Baghdad-based expert who advises the Iraqi government."

wg

The smart thing is that he has an excellent military command staff, and he will generally go along with their recommendations.

Not so with the Bush gangsters of Cheney and Rumy.

Kind of funny that you reference one of the more idiotic things that Obama has said, when he referred to the organized group responsible for sawing off heads, blowing up large groups, and shooting thousands of innocent people as the "JV team" and then praise him for being "smart". lol

Belittling the terrorists publicly while going around in the back ground and cutting them off at the knees is a better strategy than giving the terrorists the ego stroking affirmation they seek by running around and flailing like a chicken with its head cut off.

The JV Team comment certainly wasnt smart, BUT I believe what he was after was not allowing ISIS to feel like they were winning. You gotta admit that it was a lot less bad than the whole "Mission Accomplished" banner.

Yahoo News ran a warning from the CIA director.  So far, our security within the US has been pretty good.

While waiting in the insane line at TSA at MCO I have many time thought about that area being very crowded and very unsecure.

there are a lot of strategies being used to quell the current uprising not mentioned in this article.  You must remember the initial crazy hajji killing drone theme started with GW.  Only because the technology became available during his tenure.  It is irrelevant as to the political affiliation.  Bronco has definitely refined this more precise killing strategy.  I personally think it does limit the amount of new crazy hajji potential as there is less extraneous killing, so the statistics are in your favor of not creating a large supply of new crazy merka hating arabs.  Let us not forget that the last adminstration was tantamount in creating ISIS, so we were just propagating the conflict.

You can go back even further if you want, to Reagan and Charlie Wilson.....

or even back to 1917 and UK Foreign Secretary Balfour....

The last administration left us with a stable Iraq.

About as stable as the economy.

Capitalism is based on the ridiculous notion that you can enjoy limitless growth in a closed, finite system.

In biology, such behavior of cells is called "cancer".

What a total load of CRAP!

"What do you make of Kerry's announcement? What constitutes top leadership?

It's probably accurate. It's also misleading or irrelevant. We're hitting small units, so anybody could be a top commander. We're killing a lot of people, yes, but it's a misleading indicator. I understand why they said it. They need to trumpet good news. ... We have had some [successes]. The head of Ninevah province has been replaced twice due to deaths.

I don't know what [the U.S.] determination is for a commander. ISIS has a pretty rigid command structure at a certain level thanks to their Baathist ideology and their military background. Clearly, someone who's a governor of a province is a massively important commander, but I think they're bringing that down to the tactical level. ..."

Really? Do tell. Iraq was stable when Obama took office and below is a map of it today.

That doesn't make sense. The economy was not stable. Iraq was. What do you think would have prevented the economy from collapsing? Do you think maybe reforming Fannie and Freddie would have helped?
