While I wouldnt put it past him, I dont really think Trump is really paying people to wave mexican flags and cause problems. There are legitimate people out there the identify as being Mexican rather than American that are pissed that Trump wants to (rightfully) close down the border to illegal crossing. It's apparent from Greenie's graph that the increase was steady during Bush 1, during Clinton and the dot-com boom, and all of Bush 2, but started leaving when either 1) the Bush economy and jobs crapped out, or 2) when Obama started deporting them.

Since 2008,
1) Obama's economy and a Dem Congress did not attract new immigrants to jobs here?
2) Obama's record-level of deportations reversed the influx despite domestic job gains?
3) Border security got better?

Despite the graph showing a drop, it was small, and basically level for 5-6 years.
