Wookie, I'm not a wingnut but saw local news footage of Muslims on the NJ waterfront cheering as the buildings smoldered and collapsed.

I'm not making this up and neither is Trump.

Again, I don't know what the crowd size was, I doubt it was "thousands upon thousands" but it did happen.

Anything is possible, but I require documentation to accept it.

Hey, even I would gladly spit on anyone who acted like that on that horrible day.

Memory is a funny thing.

It is plausible to have seen footage over and over again of Muslims in the middle east cheering while hearing the rumors of Muslims in the US cheering. Then the memories get combined as one.

Media knows various tricks and can help this process along.

I wouldn't mind seeing archive news footage from day or so after the event. I wouldn't be surprised if certain affiliates aired the speculation that New Jersey Muslims were cheering the attack while showing file footage of Muslims in some third-world shithole doing the nooka nooka ramadan dance and shooting guns in the air. (Obvious joke being that it would be easy to make such a mistake given the shithole nature of New Jersey). Real easy to misremember that as having seen American Muslims cheering on TV.

Where is the footage that Trump claims to have seen? Surely it is archived somewhere?

Scom, I distinctly remember the coverage was on the NJ waterfront with NYC and the towers in the background.

If there's no footage, there's no footage, but I am sure it was NYC and nowhere else!

I believe it was a local news station.

As for proof, I have none, so this is all I can say.

There were similar remembrances of groups of celebrating Jews.
No video there either.

I do remember seeing some kind of video, but I can't honestly say where the video was taken. I do think cheering would have been a pretty ballsy thing to do in NJ at that time and probably would have caused a huge brawl at the very least. But then again, I'm just guessing.
