They knew what Crankit? They knew the outcome of the military trial before it happened. I hope if I'm ever captured by an enemy I don't have people like you deciding my fate.

They knew he was a deserter. As far as not having people like crankit or me deciding your fate, that is the smartest thing you've said in awhile.

Tpap: Private Daner, did you vote for the PiC?

Daner: Yes sir, General Tpap.

Tpap: Off with his head!

It's called evidence--that odumbo knew, but illegally did the deal himself to make himself look like a hero and draw down Gitmo.

Tpapsmear, your talking points are always vomited on to every thread the same way. I am on point.

Has anyone asked a soldier what they think about this decision?

I think a pretty big percentage of people on 2nd light are either active duty or former military.

Personally, I think getting him back was the right decision, as long as he is court martialed and tried for desertion AND the deaths of the men in his unit. That said, whomever negotiated the deal sucks at negotiating and needs to find a different line of work. If any of those 'high ranking' Taliban that we traded for him, end up attacking our people again, which is a very likely scenario, it will definitely come back and bite the Obama admin. in the ass.

We know nothing about the prisoner release.

Did we turn one of them?

Are we tracking them?

Are we looking for someone they used to associate with?

Do some of you actually believe that the State Department and Joint Chiefs are that clueless?

True
Very doubtful
Damn sure better be
Absolutely
State Dept. Clueless
JCS- not clueless

edit:

If you are correct Cole, then I would equate this to that gun scandal (I forget the name), where our guns were given to cartels 'to track' and ended up killing our own people. Too risky of a move in my opinion.

If our soldiers are heroes and patriots, why are their commanders inept?

JCS= joint chiefs = not clueless

John Kerry= epitome of clueless

If our soldiers are heroes and patriots

have you served? (not trying to be a smartass)

They volunteered, knowing they are more than likely going to be shipped to that hot ass godforsaken place they call the middle east. That in my book is what qualifies them.

Nope, didn't serve and I'm not knocking the soldiers, but much of the brass started out as soldiers, so at what point do they become clueless?

Do you really think Obama would make the decision without consulting with the soldiers superiors?

I wasn't insinuating that you were. I'm not sure how else to put it, so that you understand. I know the brass (for the most part) started off as soldiers, I've said repeatedly that I do NOT think the JCS is clueless.

I have no doubt that he consulted them, I do have doubts that he heeded their advice, as he has in the past.

edit:

at what point do they become clueless?

When their political ambition surpasses their strategic knowledge.

Work, I'm not calling you out, I'm simply pointing out that these decisions aren't made randomly.....as suggested by many on here.
