The Guardian's Gary Younge takes a look at the spaghetti-shaped district, complete with a stop at UF.

A perfect example of addition by subtraction.

The Repub controlled legislature draws this gerrymandered district to subtract minority/Dem voters from the surrounding districts, Their by adding to the % of repub voters in those surrounding districts. The loser in this math are the people in the State of Fla that do not receive fair and impartial representation.

This type of gerrymandering also creates an environment where an incompetent assclown like Corrine Brown can get elected/reelected.

On the other hand, , , , the "black" vote may have been
"concentrated" so that it was more "forceful" in that district, otherwise, it may have been "diluted", and otherwise ineffectual?

The long, skinny district is the result of a combination of civil rights law that encourages districts where minorities have good chances to be elected, in combination with Republican desire to squeeze as many Democrats into as few districts as possible.  You end up with Gainesville split between a very liberal black member of Congress and an extreme right-wing one who makes Posey look middle-of-the-road.

This is why the house is insane.

Still nothing with the superdistrict idea, huh?

Chaos theory.  Small changes (a little redistricting in the beginning) can produce large effects downstream (polarization which bring more redistricting which brings more polarization ad infinitum).  It's called positive feedback.
