A brief Reuters news story says crops are failing, and mentions broccoli and peas.  Those are grown for sale in the US, fresh or frozen.  

It's affecting precisely the counties that have gang and murder crises.  

Here's an opinion blog item at the Dallas Morning News, a paper that takes Mexico seriously.  

Dry conditions are related to warm water in the Pacific, probably onset of El Nino.  That perhaps also has something to do with the Pacific hurricanes.

costa has had a couple of dry years. lots of people in Guanacaste ran out of water this spring.
