We will be out of Tomahawks by 2018, if we use them up at the current rate. If we have a minor action like Libya, they will be gone sooner (we used 200 in connection with Libya). The replacement will be ready in 2024 at the earliest.

... The Pentagon also wants the venerable A-10 to go away in favor of the bloated boondoggle known as the F-35.

Too bad we can't make more A-10s, but that's long over.

The airframes are showing their age.  Isn't it like an 8g plane?

I love it when personal injury type, state schooled, legal professionals embed themselves in the current and future armaments of the military. Let's give this a credibility rating of 2 out of 10 just for the effort to read some generic article and formulate a weak opinion. You are too old to fly a real drone, but I strongly encourage you to go buy something similar and post up some cool pictures of people surfing while we work on ways to use those little things in a more effective manner. You ever see what was in those things you're condemning the president for not buying? One of the cards I designed for a similar platform is worth more than a couple of corvettes.

The A-10 was built for a European Tank war that never happened.
Some might say that was because we had lot's of stuff like the A-10.

Either way, it's not what we need now.
probably also becoming true for Tomahawk and Hell-fire.

I've scoured the military blogs and news sites for a hint of this pending debacle, but of course it's non news.

Didn't the A-10 see a lot of action against Saddam's tanks in Desert Storm?

They did.
Saddam had no air defenses after the first few days,
A-10's had a turkey shoot especially on the "highway of death".
But even then, most of the tanks and other hard target were taken out by smart bombs launched at standoff distances by F-111,15,18,117..... Apaches
Now it takes just a drone and a missile.
