In the furor, everyone seemed to forget that unpaid mothers and household work are not what the discussion is about. Republicans are not talking about how jobs for stay-at-home moms have decreased under Obama.

They are talking about how paid work for women has suffered.
When Ann Romney’s husband, who faces a gender gap in some polls, uses her experience and insight as a megaphone for women’s concern over fewer paid jobs, he mistakenly assumes that all women are fungible. Which was, I take it, Rosen’s original point.

Although Ann Romney may be a fine spokesperson on some issues, the dirty little secret of angling for female votes is that while all women’s work, inside or outside the home, has the same worth, as Michelle Obama and Barbara Bush sweetly expressed, all women do not have the same interests. Women who work in the home do not have the same interest in the recovery of the formal job market as women who have to work for pay. Indeed, wage-earning women probably have more in common with their paycheck-dependent male co-workers on the subject of economic recovery than with household laborers such as Ann Romney.

The number of stay at home Moms... only 5M according to this: http://www.infoplease.com/spot/womencensus1.html

Hmm, I wonder if Ms. Rosen's comments might ring true to the other 71M working women?

And I wonder how many of those 5 million use housekeepers, cooks and nannies.

First off those figures are bullshit. And anyone who has watch a football or basketball game this year knows that the stay at home dad is the 2012 stat that has Proctor and Gamble aiming every diaper add at us dads who wipe kids noses and butts. Housekeeper. Your looking at him. When I log out I am heading for the kitchen. Just saying. And watching Nick and Disney Jr all day make for one pissed off housekeeper. Surf comps online are my only outlet some days.

Cooks and nannies: they earn paychecks for their work, don't they? Have jobs, pay taxes, help feed their own fine selves and their families, right?

And somehow you find fault with the people need their services and that can afford to hire them?

Why?

So what you're saying is that Mittens is too dumb to even run the household budget and has to leave managing the domestics to his wife. Sounds like we agree on this.

Stop beginning sentences with the word "So" that declare your incorrect assumptions of what I meant. I said nothing at all about the Romneys being dumb.

In that regard, they were smart enough to acquire the wherewithall with which to hire the staff, and certainly wise enough to use them to their family's advantage. Would you fault them having a landscaper, or do you think a man that last year reportedly earned $21.7 million dollars should mow his own lawn?

American women can relate a lot better with the cooks and nannies than with the people who employ them.

Sure thing. That's why we should always elect people who can relate better to the cooks and nannies, or at least whose wives can relate better. Very important trait, perhaps the strongest one an electable president can have. Ranks right up there with how well they can surf.

I can see now why you guys elected someone tha doesn't know how tot lead. You're all too thick to know how to follow.

With the true unemployment well over 10%, there are lots of stay home moms and dads.

Elect people, who talking about electing anyone? I am making the point that the American woman voter can relate to another female worker more than they can relate to a wealthy woman with a Cadillac at every home.

So, back to Mittens.  Evidently he thinks his wife lacks dignity.

Maybe it's harder being a stay-at-home Mom when there are 5 homes?

Don't know. What I do know, however, is that she isn't spending $10,000,000+ of our money on lavish vacations.
