I removed the editorial comment by Andrew McCarthy because I could not verify a source. Give me a little credit, okay? Besides, it's one man's opinion, not a statement of fact.

Yep, and my opinion on that as it relates to you, tahoe, is that "opinions are are like assholes and you are one. "

My position as posted as a comment on a friend's Facebook page:

I believe, based on what I've learned so far, that a man *like* Romney would make a fine president. He has many more positives going for himself than negatives: no scandalous background, a successful, untainted track record as a businessman, experience running a large company --and, indirectly, many large companies-- plus the effective governorship of a populous state.

He has maintained a lasting 42-year marriage that produced five fine sons (plus sixteen grandchildren), has remained faithful to his religion, tithing more than is asked and serving on its behalf overseas. He is a college graduate twice over, once from Brigham Young, then from Harvard University where he earned his JD (law degree).

Perhaps most importantly, he is neither arrogant nor an ideologue. He does not seek to turn American into anything but the America he was raised with; any changes he might try to make will be to undo those made by the man currently occupying the Oval Office. He believes in the greatness and exceptionalism of the United States, not in the ages-old failures, trappings, and outdated mores of a dying Europe.

Add it up: an honorable man, an effective leader, an astute businessman, an unselfish churchgoer, a faithful husband and father, all with an agenda that puts the eminent high standing of his nation before anything but his belief in God. I'd say that man's worthy of my humble vote.

Your mileage may differ.

I believe, based on what I've learned so far, that a man *like* Romney would make a fine president [if you like plain vanilla]. He has many more positives going for himself than negatives: no scandalous background [of course rampant flip-flopping yields no scandal], a successful, untainted track record as a businessman [as a vulture capitalist, the companies he drained and the employees he fired may disagree], experience running a large company --and, indirectly, many large companies [see vulture capitalist]-- plus the effective governorship of a populous state [happy birthday, Romneycare].

He has maintained a lasting 42-year marriage that produced five fine sons (plus sixteen grandchildren) [who haven't darkened the door of a recruiter's office], has remained faithful to his religion, tithing more than is asked and serving on its behalf overseas [in order to avoid Vietnam]. He is a college graduate twice over, once from Brigham Young, then from Harvard University where he earned his JD (law degree) [and you called Obama an elitist for graduating with the same degree from the same school].

Perhaps most importantly, he is neither arrogant nor an ideologue [because he is a robot]. He does not seek to turn American into anything but the America he was raised with [in Mexico?]; any changes he might try to make will be to undo those made by the man currently occupying the Oval Office [god forbid he have some ideads of his own]. He believes in the greatness and exceptionalism of the United States [show me where Obama doesn't], not in the ages-old failures, trappings, and outdated mores of a dying Europe [and we're on a better path with a greater combined GDP

Add it up: an honorable man, an effective leader, an astute businessman, an unselfish churchgoer, a faithful husband and father, all with an agenda that puts the eminent high standing of his nation before anything but his belief in God. I'd say that man's worthy of my humble vote [didn't Jimmy Carter share all of those qualities?].

Watch Your Mailbox!

Just wanted to let you know - today I received my 2012 Social Security Stimulus Package.

It contained two tomato seeds, cornbread mix, a prayer rug, a machine to blow smoke up my ass, 2 discount coupons to KFC & Taco Bell, an "Obama Hope & Change" bumper sticker, and a "Blame it on Bush" poster for the front yard. The directions were in Spanish.

Watch for yours soon.

Well, so much for "fairness" and "Close those loopholes!" eh, Mr. President?

Obama's kids get $48,000 -- tax free!

OBAMA FAMILY TAX SHELTER

FIRST FAMILY TRANSFERS WEALTH, AVOIDS TAXES

President Obama and his wife, Michele, gave a total of $48,000 in tax-free gifts to their daughters, according to tax records made public on Friday.

The president and his wife separately gave each daughter a $12,000 gift under a section of the federal tax code that exempts such donations from federal taxes.

There is nothing illegal about the president’s taking advantage of this tax shelter, but it does raise eyebrows given that he has lamented the myriad tax exemptions used by the wealthy—“millionaires and billionaires” like himself—to pay less in taxes. He has yet to propose a comprehensive plan to reform the byzantine tax code.

The Obama’s untaxed gift to their daughters will leave American taxpayers to subsidize the college education of the children of the multi-millionaire Obamas.
