Republicans hate the idea of stimulus plans and bailouts, yet they support deregulation for corporations that are leveraged 40 to 1 and too big to fail.

Does the right wing brain block out contradiction?

This republican is not for bailouts and doesn't believe in "too big to fail".  If a company is overexposed and goes bust, so be it.

I'm not against some form of stimulus in a down economy, but one based on tax cuts rather than direct government spending.  The Dems used that stimulus as a big slush fund to take care of their pet projects and to pay back political donors.  We really got our infrastructure repaired as promised didn't we and unemployment stayed below 8%.  Yep, it was a real success.   10's of million's went to Pelosi's district to study some stupid field mouse.  Now that was really important. Just one of many examples of:

How your money was wasted

I would guess that if the withholding on taxes had been slashed for a year and then slowly returned to normal levels, we'd be out of this mess by now.  I trust the people to spend their money more wisely than the government.

Coleslaw are you that stupid?!?!?! (retorical question).

RR is right...republicans believe in survival of the fittest as far as corporations go.

No company is "too big to fail"!

Let the chips fall where they may.

It's your leftwing brain continually thinking that what you post are actual facts.

I would suggest backing off the lame stream media for a while...it's rotting your brain!

A couple of the smaller ones (Lehman Brothers for instance) went down and it's taken us years to recover. Do you actually believe the failure of the true giants wouldn't create a massive problem?

As far as the Bush/Obama stimuli: the American auto industry is more than solid, the government has made a return on the money used to bail the banks and the economy continues to recover.

where the hell have you been?  W gave the banks trillions. he lost several pallets of cash in Iraq.  He started 2 wars and gave his buddies tax breaks.  Borrowed from China to pay for his lies.

BUT you're not suppose to invoke Bush's name as the destroyer of our country.  Just the guy who fell into his stinking pile of failed policies.

Brujo, America has borrowed from foreign nations for nearly a century. You may remember that at one time in the not-so-distant past, England held over 65% of America's debt, as did Japan just a decade later. Every president in my lifetime has done such.

Bush had two wars to fight; no president could have fought them without spending a "pallet of cash."

Also, there hasn't been a president alive who hasn't been accused of "giving his buddies tax breaks." Congress does it 24/7/365 for years on end. And, yes, tax breaks come from Congress, not from the Oval Office.

Do you actually think you can sit there and find Obama less blameless than any other president for the goodies he dribbles downcourt to his own buddies? Remind us again how many "green energy" companies that are owned by his buddies have gone belly-up after receiving huge loans, grants, tax incentives, and ginned-up government contracts, ultimately sticking the taxpayers for the billions invested in them. Surely you can't think we're so stupid as to not realize he's no different in that respect than any other president, or that this Congress is, either.

Look, Bush is not in the race. Be smart: drop the references to him. Focus on the things Obama's done (or hasn't done), and contrast them with what you think --but haven't the foggiest idea-- of what Romney might do.

Congress approved both of them, so who's fault is it, really?

We did much of what we set out to do in Iraq --deposed Sadamm, restored democracy. What we didn't do is find WMDs.

The intelligence Bush acted on re: the WMDs came from our own security agencies, plus those of the UN and 21 foreign countries'. At the time, the prima facie evidence seemed overwhelming to nearly everyone in power.

But, you and others still stick to the "He lied" routine. Pity.

"pallet of cash"

more like a pallet of credit cards.

Bush had the support of the nation and the world following 9/11 and the actions in Afghanistan and around the world had virtually everyone's support.

maybe we all didn't like the rhetoric that went with it, but we wanted to see Osama 'smoked out'.

with WMD's in Iraq and the BS of avenging Daddy's war (yes, i agree Saddam was a bad man) could have waited until Step #1 was complete.

And who killed OBL?

Heaven is where the police are British, the chefs Italian, the mechanics German, and it is all organized by the Swiss. Hell is where the police are German, the chefs British, the mechanics French, and it is all organized by the Italians.

If you want something explained to you, ask a coherent question.

Two platoons from Seal Team Six.

Just for the record: Obama no more killed OBL than Bush captured Hussein or Truman forced Hitler to commit suicide.

Deregulation and lack of oversight led to the collapse...the collapse that the tax payer bailed out.

You aren't very intelligent for a lawyer.

There is the problem, the government is not a business....should not be a loan-shark looking for high rate of returns. That's gambling with my tax dollars....why don't they just go down to Vegas and bet it all on Red and see if they double their money.
