The Tax Policy Center (which I co-direct) analyzed the revenue policies as proposed by Rep. Ryan. We simulated the effects of repealing the AMT and reducing ordinary income tax rates to 10 and 25 percent. These proposals would cost about $3.2 trillion over ten years, on top of the $0.3 trillion lost from repealing taxes enacted to pay for Affordable Care Act, the $1.1 trillion lost from his desired reduction in the corporate tax rate, and the $5.4 trillion lost from first extending the Bush-Obama tax cuts (which he also supports). By 2022, the tax policies he has specified would lower federal revenues to just 15.8 percent of GDP. Talk about digging yourself a hole.

Mitt thinks he's just dreamy.

Boy, you low- and middle-class types, you're really in for it when the Republicans take over. Pork and beans, that's what you'll be eating. And forget about vacations; all your money will go to ease the tax burdens of the rich (just like they are under Obama, but at least under plans like Ryan's you'll be able to screech in harmony with one another).

Forget about employment at fair wages; you'll all be working for the Man at whatever the Man wants to pay you. Don't worry, though: you'll be able to eat whatever you want. No more MichelleCare diets; you'll absorb whatever you want. And, since there won't be health care available at any price you can afford, you'll die off just in time for the next batch of clones to take over your meaningless jobs.

Yep, the future's looking pretty good from where I'm sitting.

"when the Republicans take over"    Impossible.  The Republican party is fracturing so badly theys no may even start losing local elections (where they can lie about their fiscal blah and there is no accountability)

Ryan budget will never pass; but I'm surprised that Mitt has bitten the poison apple. Should make for great ad fodder by summer.

Any plan that raises enough additional revenue to close the gap will have to involve big tax increases on most of us.

Okay, let's hear where you would raise revenues, and where you'd reduce spending. Try to be realistic, and, above all else, fair.
