I live inland a good bit so it would be a used mostly on lakes and a few nearby rivers. I'm late 40s, 190# and dropping. Most of my surfing is on a longboard, I ride a paipo when it gets big (that should give me away). I wouldn't mind a board that I can use for surf if I'm in town. I rode a sup a few years ago on Frisco, caught a wave after 1 hour out on it. Made it most of the way but ended up bailing. This w/e I borrowed a board and paddled out at during the contest. Didn't surf it did to the masses in the water. I was thinking of something 10'6" to 11'. Not sure how wide. I'd like to get a domestically made board but that's probably out of my reach, I can do 1k or so, last domestic I saw was 1800 and was way more board than I'd ever use. You can PM me if you want.
Edit: I did ride a Nu Wave this w/e and liked it, very stable and the paddle felt really good in my hands. Edited: 06/07/2012 at 06:09 AM by ncbeachbum |

Get a Jimmy Lewis 11' Cruise Control. Great all around board ------------------------- Old and Slow can be stylish if you eliminate the jerky part |

If you are looking for a workout when you paddle, an 11 foot board is not going to give it to you. You want it to float you but not like a boat.

Just paddle longer and harder. ------------------------- Old and Slow can be stylish if you eliminate the jerky part |

If you are going to be doing mostly flat water paddling like 80/20 11 foot single fin Jimmy is a GREAT shape it will track nicely unlike the shorter boards and it surfs really well I own a 11' and 11'6" Jimmy Lewis Going short for flat water is just silly and you don't need a 2+1 set up it will do you no good on flat water. Look for something with Goretec vent everything else is crap you will have issues with other plugs. As for local call Tom Neilson or Ricky Carroll they have boards in stock made in brevard and are high quality. ------------------------- |

Jimmy Lewis 11' cruise control, I've left mine on top of my car for 2 years now, no problem. Get white bottom and heat is not a problem. I've dropped in running across highway twice and flew off car once, no problem. If you want to RIP on a wave just surf a shortboard, otherwise go for the glide and length of ride. Also ran my fin into the sand dozens of times, no problem. It doesn't look new but I've never had to fix it yet. ------------------------- Old and Slow can be stylish if you eliminate the jerky part |

Plus I feel bad about what we did in Viet Nam so I'm OK with giving them business. ------------------------- Old and Slow can be stylish if you eliminate the jerky part |
