I like that don't be kook part, that should be printed out and given to every SUPr out there. I surf with some really good SUPrs but there are FAR too many DIPSH*Ts out there that don't educate buyers and they are the reason that a lot of surfers hate SUPs. It should also state that if you own a SUP school and your giving lessons keep your class away from people surfing. There is at least one guy I know of in this area that is guilty of this last point and people are getting a bit tired of it.

Good start Watermonkey.

Thanks for checking out the site. This is a conversation that usually goes south, especially on an internet forum. You are right that it is important for the shops and SUP businesses to educate the new paddlers.

It's all about respect and keeping the people informed. I have said things to stand up surfers many times to inform them on the 'rules' of the line-up. Stand up paddle surfing is a lot of fun but you are always going to get the kooky ones here and there. This goes for guys paddling anything in the line-up.

Hopefully you can pass on this article and it will educate the paddlers enough to make the right decision and wait until they have surfed for 3-4 years before they even consider surfing in an area with multiple prone surfers.
