So, we made it to the Plaza Live venue in DT Orlando last night. Place was packed. I felt like i was in a Goth Halloween costume contest. Vamps everywhere. Although, 30 years older, 80s Goth Girls still exist. I feel like I recognize some from my 80s/90s Orlando bar hopping daze, but anyway...Peter Murphy cancelled at the 11th hour.

Stage was set and it was a sold out crowd. I was stretching thinking (at my age) that a mosh pit may open up when he comes on, but alas, guy walks out and says it was cancelled. Peter was sick and couldn't make. They played Miami the night before, and surely he caught something, or the drugs were too powerful there. Who knows, they only said he tried to come on but physically couldn't do it. Some people threw their empty beer cups on stage when announced and some left disgruntled. Life on the Road, bands are organic, sh*it happens.

Bummed, but we had fun anyway.

Hope he returns. It would have been my 3rd time seeing Peter Murphy and he always puts on a great show.

I saw him in the 80s on his solo tour. He's Bowie esque.

Totally Bowie w/mix of Iggy Pop. He actually has a show he just announced in San Francisco doing a Bowie Tribute shows. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

from Orlando Sentinel:

The show has been rescheduled for April 4, according to a media representative.

Update: Tickets from Thursday's show will be honored at the new date. Tickets can be refunded at the original point of purchase until March 8 at 5 p.m.

Also, David J, who is another orig Bauhaus member said on his fb page the Dr checked him out and he is clear to play tonight in Atlanta. DavidJ after leaving Bauhaus had a successful band with Love & Rockets.

Went over to a friends house in Jax Bch one night, he both owned several legendary 80's/90's Jacksonville clubs and later was a concert promoter.

Knock on the door and enter after the "come in"

Friend is setting there with a sorta pale, skinny, balding dude, with (at the time) hair a color of black that does not found in nature ..... I thought he looked somehow familiar.

My friend introduces me to, Peter ...... yep Peter Murphy. Nice enough guy, low key and no "rock star" vanities. In fact he slept on my friends couch that night.

Cool. I imagine most 'rock stars' are normal people once they reach a certain age and mature.

Well, another 11th hour cancellation by Peter Murphy. Word on the street is that he is hooked on morphine and is a no show. Oh well.
