I love both, the tiny desk concerts and John Prine.

And the young dude is playing a Larrivee Parlor, yes!

"I love meatloaf"

(this is the FOOD ...and Music area, right?)

^ oh, so it's getting all NSR now

tease the old Luddite about his setup...

Well, actually, yes; and....

A guy at work gave me an old '60's Heathkit oscilloscope he got at a yardsale

and I opened it up to see what the rectification was.

Didn't have a schematic and gotta be careful of the old selenium stuff before you plug in.

Anyway, inside were 3 vintage Mullard "made in Great Britian", low noise, instrument grade 12AU7's.

I kinda dropped what I was doing on the scope and popped the Mullards into the linestage of the preamp.

Now it's vintage RCA cleartop 12AX7's in the phono stage,

into vintage Mullard 12AU7's in the line stage and...

YESDAMNIT!  I listen to "the folk" on it!!!

(pant pant pant) (whew) (old guy rant)

Love me some Prine ..... I have seen him at least 35 times in concert. Including recently at Ruth Eckard Hall in Clearwater and it was one of the best ever.

Great article ...... it even mentions the meatloaf

Did you notice any difference?

I could use that scope, 'kay? I'll get my own tubes.

Not really, maybe a little midrange clarity (?), noticed in the voices,

but it it pretty hard to A/B them quickly.

They burn my fingers.

Yes it is

Link fixed ..... it was a http / https issue

There was another excellent recent one with Prine, that was more of a straight up interview style article. But I can not seem to find it now!!
