Ball said he couldn't believe the card was only $8. But the owner of the store thought it was a fake and sold it to ball for just $2. Ball took it to get it authenticated. Turns out, the card is a 1921 Babe Ruth Shotwell E-121 model. "I didn't even know what to say," he said. "I had tears running down my face. I can't even imagine the feeling." Ball says he's turned down three multi-million dollar offers to buy the card. wfsa ------------------------- Specializing in sarcasm and condescending rhetoric since 1971. |

Lottery win type of stuff.
I would drop some of the coin on the shop if I sold, but that's just me and my miserable conscience. |

I'm glad it was obtained through a shop and not some old lady that happened to find it cleaning out her attic and didn't have a clue to it's value. I'd definitely hook the shop owner up with bonus, but that should be a tough lesson on making assumptions in that business. He even went down from $8 -$2.....ouch!
I have a replica of that very card and it's about $10 on Becketts. ------------------------- Specializing in sarcasm and condescending rhetoric since 1971. Edited: 02/14/2019 at 08:39 AM by worksuxgetsponsered |

That is a score..... I remember when I first bought my house, my dad said "good come get your $hit outta here" (stuff when I was kid still stored in their house).... A few boxes of Baseball cards, and I was stoked because I just spent every penny on the Down payment of my house, and was thinking of what these things were worth the last time I looked at them (almost 20 years prior). Sorting through them, then went on ebay to see what they were selling for...... WAH WAH WAAAAAAAAH....... most were worth more when I was a kid than now, probably because in the 80s kids really started saving them and trading them like stocks. OH WELL....
