I need a fence and possibly an installer. I'll do it myself if the build is too costly.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. ------------------------- I was right. |

Go for it & DIY, for a fraction of the cost with all stainless fasteners, etc..
Getting to a reasonable time of year - temperature and winds etc. I did most of work pre July and stopped then - too damn hot..
I got many ridiculous quotes and had almost 400 ft to replace. Insurance only covered about a third .. I.e., 'materials'.. Did about 80% so far..
Had to replace posts and footings - lots of posts were rotten just below grade and had snapped..
Pulled the posts & footings by myself with a farm jack.. Definitely saved my back..
Go for it unless you have a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket..
Good luck!!

I'm going to do one run for sure, but the other has recently removed trees and I want no part of that.

Had to cut down a palm with a very wide trunk.. Just stagger the posts between the tree stumps... May need to tighten up the spacing.. You will have to pay some to deal with this issue anyway.. May as well invest in a good used Stihl chainsaw and diy.. Picked one up in real good condition for more than a reasonable price on eBay..

Hey Surfsail- i read your post and looked up "farm jack" on youtube. Pretty cool piece of equipment.. I had not heard of one. I have some 4x4 fence posts that are rotting and will likely need to be removed eventually- I think they are concreted in too :/ Question- how did you get the farm jack to "grip" the 4x4 in order to jack it out? |
