Our team is out. I think it's funny that 23 and me can tell you which team you should align with. Costa Rica deserves some love. Senegal are brilliant underdogs. Ronaldo just threaded a tie kick through the tiniest of possible paths. Who to get behind?

Iceland for me too.

Mexico looks damn good too, they would be a nice change.

Is it time for a new kid in town?

I don't think Senegal will be the "creative" team that overcomes all. Costa Rica looked like they could not muster any offense. Mexico played well and won but Germany had a bad day on the same day Mexico had a great day. I see Germany undoing this upset.

I always pull for the teams from the Americas, even our big rival Mexico. It's kind of a neighbor thing, I guess.

I thought with the U.S. not making it I might be less interested this year, but that hasn't been the case at all. We have the matches on at work and if I'm not out doing something on the weekends, I have them on.

Next year will surely be a different story - the U.S. women'steam should make it and be a contender to repeat.

England looked like they needed sleep and they seemed spooked on the ball. It might take luck for them to get far, considering the rest of the teams look tight as a drum.

It is so very difficult for me, not having the USMNT in this Cup....

However,
There have been some interesting first game results.

Iceland tying Argentina!
Mexico beating Germany!
Swiss tie Brazil
Even Japan beating Columbia

Portugal and Spain was Epic. CR7 put his claim on legend.

This is a long way to go. Those favored teams will recover .

Harry Kane is a star.

Japan looked tight, but then again, a red for Columbia in the third minute greatly contributed to the outcome.

I would have liked to see Vardy up top when Tunisia was pressing so hard in the first half.

Senegal's second goal? I've been following this sport for a long, long time and I've never seen anything like it.

The ref let an opposing player on right as the ball was flying deep into Poland's territory. Amazing.
