The Guardian (which has an Australia edition) has a story.

Online retailer Surfstitch is mentioned.  Its US version, "SWELL is moving to Australia in 2018."  (from their website).  So, all sorts of changes in the land of retail.

US private equity group Oaktree Capital Management

These management groups are usually a death knell to surf companies.

Volcom released baggies with a open back pocket a few years ago. That was an awesome idea....

Retail clothing selling is in turmoil.  Everyone seems to think Amazon is doing well, but I suspect thrift shops have become the place to go.  Goodwill just opened a big, brand-new store in Vero.

Hurley seems to be doing OK, seemingly with support from Nike's development labs.  They and Patagonia have tried selling button-down shirts made from water repellant stretch boardshort material.  Kind of expensive even when 50% off, and sort of odd-feeling, but seemingly good for Florida summer.
