The Guardian (which has an Australia edition) has a story. Online retailer Surfstitch is mentioned. Its US version, "SWELL is moving to Australia in 2018." (from their website). So, all sorts of changes in the land of retail. |

US private equity group Oaktree Capital Management
These management groups are usually a death knell to surf companies. Volcom released baggies with a open back pocket a few years ago. That was an awesome idea.... ------------------------- I was right. |

Retail clothing selling is in turmoil. Everyone seems to think Amazon is doing well, but I suspect thrift shops have become the place to go. Goodwill just opened a big, brand-new store in Vero. Hurley seems to be doing OK, seemingly with support from Nike's development labs. They and Patagonia have tried selling button-down shirts made from water repellant stretch boardshort material. Kind of expensive even when 50% off, and sort of odd-feeling, but seemingly good for Florida summer.
