Thanks HAP and worksux, good to hear! Question, you bought the 5 to accommodate the the turntable, so does the 5 have amp functionality?

The turntable I got has a preamp. I haven't actually set the new stuff up yet, it just came last night. From what I gathered in the blogs, it will play it without the preamp, but you're losing a great deal of quality.

You can order the connect box that also has an amp.

Turntables deserve a decent preamp. I built this one a few years ago using 12AX7s for the phono pre into 12AU7s for the line out. It gives plenty so can even play high output moving coil cartridges on the table. Woot! Traditional Luddite Audio. EDIT: Dang, pics not attaching from the 2ndlite server? 404 - file not found. Oh well, sorry.

If I can ask, what turntable did you buy?

Subwoofers connected by SVS wireless; old KEF Q speakers by a now-obsolete Rocketfish linker from Best Buy.

Lol...don't think I'd be able to build my own, if my life depended on it. Well done Tom or is it McGyver?

Got everything hooked up and it sounds great. I had the Play 5 on the porch while we steamed oysters and played kill the keg this weekend and it sounded fantastic. The 8' privacy fence helped mitigate blasting my neighbors out.
