Ooof! That reminds me. Anyone see the truck flipped on A1A yesterday? Looked pretty bad.

Heard the sirens for the SB one, saw the aftermath. Couldn't find any news in FL Today, but didn't look much further. Didn't hear a life-flight helicopter.

I fear I'll be hearing a lot more sirens after they finish installing those new median strips and mid-block crossings along A1A.

And yeah, what a cluster in Macau!

Speaking of those medians. Man, they're super aggressive. Completely vertical 6" curbs just a few feet from traffic. Not even painted yellow. If someone bumps weaves into one, it's not going to be like rolling up a soft curb. It's going to be dramatic.

lots of chatter about a1a and the medians on facebook

a link about medians and safety

but doesnt mention the 'height of curbs' and the dangers

plenty of comments
City of Satellite Beach City Manager The small medians with cutouts are pedestrian refuge areas.
These will eventually be painted and planted with cross walk indicators on
the street. The project is still under construction so portions need to be completed. The
locations were decided on after 6 different public workshops in 2013 and 2014

City of Satellite Beach City Manager Yes, there is a lot more work to be done along the
entire roadway. The project will not be completed until mid 2018.

The FDOT did not want to review and approve new signals with this construction
project. However, they will be conducting traffic counts and a warrant analysis after this
project is completed to determine if the signals will be installed in the future.
