Months ago, I looked into flying to Savannah or Nashville, or driving up the night before. But hotel rooms were long gone, and flights were crazy expensive. We still bought eclipse glasses, though!

We're at about 88 percent coverage in Melbourne. It gets better as you go North. But of course, wherever you are, it comes down to cloud coverage.

What are your plans?

Brevard County Schools are giving the OK to take your kid(s) out to watch the eclipse. This is the first time in 99 years that the continental US has had a total eclipse. Experience it!

Me and my wife's plan is to grab the second grader from school after lunch, look at the visible satellite and decide whether it's best to stay put, drive a bit South, drive a bit North, or drive a bit West for the best view. This time of year, clouds are our enemy.

I missed an eclipse, years ago, thanks to clouds.  In Montana, of all places.

Thursday, traffic jams were already materializing in Oregon.  The state doesn't have very many roads, unlike South Carolina's dense web.

The kids get the day off school- so we will probably just hang at the beach and watch it from there.

Paid a chunk for glasses off ebay- but just got them today, they are pretty cool plastic ones- you can stare at the sun- its weird. Everything else is totally blacked out.

I'm just gonna read about it here.

Debbie Downer reports that the cloud cover will be just as it is today, neither sun or moon to be seen.

But you'll get to surf at night during the day Dingpatch! Probably better if it works out that way.

Brother, when you get a minute, could I get a list of the words that trigger these fits?

Hey. Where are we going? (And what are we doing in a hand-basket?)

Just fly Spirit, get a hammock on the beach. BAM!   Even YOU can to it, too.

LOL, $200 barely covers the board bag fee nowadays.

Cheapest spirit flight plus board fees... even if you are sleeping in your board bag, you still gotta eat and drink. Bring the pole spear and save some more money I suppose. Still not doing it for $200.

Plus, screw that crap. More then happy to pay for AC, a bed, and real food. That is what real jobs are for.

I went to Nashville to see it. No clouds.  It was flawless. One of the most amazing things I ever saw in my life. The entire city was screaming and cheering. Sounded angelic. I got a lot of great photos as well.

It had such an effect on me that I'm making plans to see the next one. It will be over twice as long and runs right through the capital of Argentina (Buenos Aires). Three million residents in the city itself along with millions of visitors will make for quite a party.

22 months from now. I'll be there.  I've always wanted to visit South America anyway, so it's a perfect opportunity.

See y’all next summer.
