Hi guys, I'm looking into sailing classes for the family. I'm considering MYC or the Central Florida Sailing Club on lake Baldwin, in Orlando. Both are a little bit of a drive and difficult to match schedules with.
I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation or knows of a local sailing club which provides boats and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks! |

My kids did the classes at MYC (Melbourne Yacht Club, right?) years ago and it was GREAT. Cheap too. Don't know about now but do know that it's nice folks and nice facility. I was working on my car the other day and a guy riding his bike thru the neighborhood saw my boat in the driveway so he stopped to talk and invite me to come race with them (MYC). Like I said, nice folks. ------------------------- add a signature since I'm here in profile anyway |

Most Sailing Clubs usually race once a month, sometimes many boats are short handed and are looking for crew members, not sure the your family's age range but I learned by crewing on a boat. We always got spanked by the Beneteau Race Tam (local pros who would come out just to practice, they were so fast...) but it is a free way to learn. |
