The way I do it seems really clunky and takes a bit of HTML knowledge. I'll be kicking myself if somebody poses a super simple way to do it after doing it the hard way for years and years. So I'm anxious to hear from the experts.

Holy crap; I just noticed there's an "ftp" link option in the reply dialog box! Can I connect to a usenet or BBS group, too?

In the reply box there are icons that you can click on, then cut and paste a link to photos. to save a photo to the 2ndlight server photo has a limit of 250k. To learn that process you need to know the secret hand shake (semi-joking). Its best to host photos to a website that is designed to host photos. It takes a lot memory and bandwidth to host a photo hosting website. Although you can upload your photos on the website. You just have to know the direct link to the jpg and post it in the reply box option.

Secret handshake, semi joking?
oookay. A supersecret masonic society of the noble order of the knights of 2nd light?
My buddy said this might be a fun place to share some photos and music.
I can post a jpeg or a link, but it doesnt just show the photo like i've seen in for sale ads or fun music stuff.
Maybe someone will still be kind or cool enough to help out....thanks

Try this link for some helpful info on links...

............. link

And for posting pictures that are hosted by another website,
use the little image box just to the left of what dingpatch circled in red in the above link,
and paste the link to your picture using that little image box.

For youtube videos, easy enough, look for the embed code when 'clicking' on the share,
copy and paste the embed code.

This is what happens with a direct cut and paste of the embed code.

Copied your embed code and pasted it.
Worked just fine..

In your profile, are you using WYSIWYG Editor or HTML Editor
Works fine with HTML Editor

WYSIWYG on a Mac. Although, , , , the "Preview" window is blank, in that it does not show the link.

Im revisiting this topic, seems to have gotten alot of reads. The responses are always about posting from youtube or a website.
What im trying to obtain is a simple way to post a jpeg, as i have learned to do. But have the photo itself appear, not a link to a jpeg. And yes, yes, ive read the posts on the search topic, and the responses are all over the map.
So, again, please: just a simple non rocket science method to post a personal jpeg and have it opened in the thread. Judging by the number of reads, im not the only enquiring mind on this subject.
Thanks

?? Question ?? ...
... where is the jpeg located ?? On your computer? If so, not going to happen.

It has to be uploaded to a host site (even if 2ndLight.com is used as a host, it must be uploaded), or the jpeg must be somewhere else on the internet first. If already hosted
somewhere shouldn't be a problem.

Post a jpeg link you want to show... if it's not on your computer, use the image icon
in your reply box.

Post the jpeg link... we'll see if we can post the image to see if it works.

or.....

paste your jpeg link in the box after clicking on the box with the arrow...

1. I go to my website and copy a link for a picture.

2. I click Relpy on the thread

3. I click the insert image button.

4. I paste the link in the Image URL box

5. I click insert

Anyone know what the best dimensions are for posting pics? The one above looks a little too big

Well I tried to give them a quick fix for the images so it wouldn't really matter and it would work better on smaller devices.... that didnt work out so well. It took months and months of pestering to get a very simple addition to the css added, THEN when it did get implemented, it was done wrong lol. After months of pestering to get it fixed and it not happening, I gave up.

In answer to your question though, with this archaic website design, there really is no best size because the site doesn't adjust properly for the multitude of devices and view port sizes in use. Your picture above is absolutely perfect size on my display as well as my laptop screen, but I cannot see it on my 7+ or iPad as it is off the screen and doesnt scroll properly.

Doesn't look too big to me on my monitor.
Looks OK on my Samsung Note 4 phone also.
(I just swipe across on the phone to see the entire pic)

I do understand what miker is saying though ...
... it doesn't always work like that, but the above picture worked fine.
