At first, I thought I had gotten a bunch of "pits" in my brand new windshield, then was thinking that something that got "sprayed" on the car in traffic. Cleaned the car and, , , , ummm, , , , later, same crap on it just sitting in the driveway. Washed the car. Drove to work. Not too bad. Get out of work, just 4 hours, and yep, more crap on the car!!??

So, anyway, , , , anybody else?

It seems to be "falling" out of the clear blue sky. Very small "clear" dots/drops. When it is "fresh", it will smear like an oil with you finger or wiper blades. When it "dries" it is clearly visible and you can feel it with your finger tips. "Flicks" right off of the car's finish that has recently had a good coat of NuFinish. Driving me, and the neighbor guy fooking nuts. He thought that it was just me when I first told him and showed him my car, then he took a look at his Brand New 1 week old Kia, , , , , WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!! Wash, wash, wash, , , , ,!

Chem trails!? An attack from outer space??!! Biologic, or plain, good-old, chemicals?

Noticed the same thing about a week or two ago. Just purchased a new car, and after a few days of driving, thought I noticed the detail/wax job did not hold up that long...ran my fingers across the paint and felt what you described. car back to the dealer and re-detailed, noticed again a few days later. I thought I was losing it as well?!?!?

I'm in Suntree and work in Cocoa. Where are you located? Where do you mostly drive around/to?

The guys at the car wash this afternoon where "what ever". I'm not "upset" about this, but WTF??? This shit is coming down everywhere around here. From what I can surmise, it is too heavy to be blown too far and is otherwise coming "down" from the open sky!

Nothing beachside in Satellite.

Oh wait, I probably wouldn't even notice anything on my '95 Ford Escort

NO fire fallout. This stuff falls as a clear liquid/viscous something, then dries/hardens.

Mike, that sounds like a good guess.

Landing weights are different than takeoff weights so if you are under the approach pattern to MLB maybe they are dumping fuel prior to landing.

Which would also account for no residue at the beaches.

Not JP. What ever it is, it dries out to a clear crystal like dot.

Sounds like Malathion as was sprayed during the medfly spraying in California in the 90's.

What kind of plants are you parking under or near?

Sounds like "honeydew".

Not a guarrantee but it is a fairly common source of clear sticky stuff.

I live in Rockeldge down by the river up by the village, and drive 520 to 95 to Palm Bay every day and I haven't encountered anything. I have seen some whicked whitefly and aphid infestations in this long period of warm temps with no significant rain since early october. Clear sticky/oily droplets that dries to a crust sounds like bug juice.

Live in Merritt Island, drive 95 North (Palm Coast) and South (Stuart) for work. The days I noticed it were local driving in Melbourne; US1, Pineda, S. Tropical. Most likely some sort of plant matter, but cannot pin point it.

First thing I thought of was pine tree sap. Whenever I pull into a parking spot that is under (or near) one of them things, I will back out and park somewhere else clear away from them. Used to have one at the end of my driveway growing up in Merritt Island and depending on the time of year, it would sometimes drop the little spots of sap that sound just like what you're describing. Don't know if the stuff can blow around much though.
