I went into the movie not knowing or caring about the movie as the family forced me to go. But, it turned out to be a really great movie!

Yes, I like Lady GaGa and am man enough to admit it. I haven't heard much from her recently so maybe her publicity 15 minutes of fame has died off and she can go back to concentrating on the music.

I've thought of The Hunger Games all day today. My wife has read the three books along with my son. I see why they have been talking about it. They say the film followed the first book pretty good. Its an interesting story and commentary on society.

Hey bob3000, both music and films are art. Why do you not like art? Just because it is popular? kuk... LOL...

You do have to be a man to admit that about Lady Gaga - especially when you know people will assume you're queer.

fyi, this thread is about the movie The Hunger Games. Not Lady Gaga or being queer. Bob3000 derails threads all the time. Why he has an obsession of me liking Lady Gaga is queer in itself...

Check out the film. Its a good one. I saw the movie over at a IMAX Tampa theater Saturday night and there was a standing ovation after the movie. Kind of strange seeing that in a movie theater. But, can I admit I shed a couple tears also in a scene? Is that queer? LOL...get over it...

US weekend box office was an amazing $155 million, the best spring release ever, beating $116 million for "Alice in Wonderland."

who says i don't like art? i'm just not a fan of pop music, or most pop films. To me , and many others - it's mostly the equivalent of SPAM, thanks. The Hunger Games got terrible reviews& that good enough for me to skip it.

"The Hunger Games got terrible reviews"

LOL. You gotta provide a link for that. I don't see how a reviewer can rip the movie. Although, like I said I didn't know the story going into the movie, but thought it was a good one.

So, because something is popular it isn't any good? How do you keep it underground all the time? You only watch foreign independent films with subtitles...LOL.

Actually it got great reviews. I didnt want to see it or succumb to the hype, but after reading all the positive reviews, I have no ammunition to say no to my wife.

its easy...Miami Herald link ... and i quote "The film's biggest flaw is the complete absence of vision or imagination - anything that would justify the movie's existence as something other than a way to cash in on the novel. The Harry Potter pictures brought visual imagination and wonder to J.K. Rowling's intricate fantasy world. The Twilight series has been a smash because of the chemistry between its lead actors. The Hunger Games, though, offers nothing." -------- I have not, and probably won't see harry potter or any of the twilight movies. I did see the Descendants, and I thought that was a good movie. -B3K

I was clueless as to what the Hunger Games were about as well until a co-worked clued me into it.  Sounds interesting.  Thanks for the insight, I'll probably catch it when its out on DVD.

Bob, you're not doing a very good job at keeping the peace with your fellow forumers.  How do you think your going to do in the upcoming elections for Mayor if you keep pissing on valuable contributors?

"But the rest of "The Hunger Games" is pretty much a disaster - disjointed, muffled, and even, at times, boring."

LOL from the New Yorker review...I typically don't like long movies and this one was at 2.5 hours. I didn't want to leave and enjoyed it to the end.

I guess someone has to poo-paw it. Bob3000, don't see this movie. Its disjointed, muffled and boring. LOL...

don't worry, i won't. however , i like the herald report better "The film's biggest flaw is the complete absence of vision or imagination - anything that would justify the movie's existence as something other than a way to cash in on the novel. " .... sounds like a gaga and madonna parallel to me!
