I think this guy might be cuckoo for cocopuffs.  One minute he blames a Heavy Mass Object for the impending doom.  Other videos he says that the government caused all the big earthquakes using HAARP and is now using HAARP to target him and his buddies.

I don't see the harm in being a dissenting voice.  A lot of conspiracy theories and "alternative ideas" actually do harm whether by distracting from real problems or by being a vehicle for hucksters to scam people.  The chemtrail people have been harrassing commercial pilots, county governments, and the national weather service.

If the evidence is on the side of those that I attempt to "debunk" then I'll not be able to debunk them.  I'll await the sudden axis tilt that the Terral Croft predicted in the video in the opening post.  His predictions of the earth flipping upside down with various areas burning to a crisp last year certainly failed.  But he still profited from contributions and from selling cave space to people that thought that a rogue planetoid was going to wreck the earth. 

You ask why I debunk.  Why should these ideas go unchallenged? If they're legitimate then they will survive challenge.  If they only survive by avoiding skeptics then I don't reckon that they're actually legitimate but are relying on the faith of their believers.

I wish Carl Sagan's "Demon Haunted World" was more widely read.

Ever heard of the cognitive terms for "shoehorning" and "confirmation bias"?

A big part of the prediction was for a 5 degree pole shift.  That should be easy enough to verify.  Plus, a couple of sub 8 magnitude quakes either side of the "big 9+" predicted don't average out to 9+.  I don't even think that on the scale on which quakes are measured that the energy released from the Mexico Quake and Chile quake sum to the amount of energy that is released from a 9.0 or stronger. 

Now, if this guy has teased a valid 188 day cycle out of the chaotic nature of earthquake occurrance then that should be investigated (even though real geologist have looked for this cycle and can't seem to see it without a similar selective bias in data collection and interpretation).  But, his doomsday scenario and "heavy mass object" seem to be entirely fantasy.  Where is this "heavy mass object" floating through the solar system and why can no one else see it or detect it?
