Dang! My son claims that shop!

1st time we went in to check it out he said;

"this is the first surf shop I've been into in Florida that actually looks and smells like a surf shop"

Surfboards and a tee-shirt rack.

He's gunna be bummed!

A big thanks to Steve for getting up at the crack of dawn every morning and doing a visual surf report. I wish him luck in whatever he does next.

I had an 8-0 Lightwave I took to Costa 6 years ago, it was a great board, and I expect it is still down there somewhere providing stoke for someone. I was just thinking the other day that the shop would be the next to close. I tried to buy something there on a regular basis. Spread the love!! He will be missed.

Had and have (got a duplicate made after the first had seen its better days) a 9'4" Lightwave. too. Obviously, I also love that board.

Man what sad sad news. Lightwave was by far my fav surf shop! Steve is a great guy and I wish him the best of luck. If someone can keep us posted on what he is doing that would be great. I would drive to where he decided to set up shop if he so chooses to do so. Man what a nice guy allways hooked me up with wax and even stopped in for a steak weekly when I was working at Applebee's in M.I. Cheers to you Steve

Newzie Tikis, the idea of whats going down isn't that just a shop is gone and there aren't any more. It's the fact that Steve has been a stong person and shop owner in the community. Once his shop is gone there will be a void that couldn't be replaced.

I took out my 9'2" Lightwaves board and had a blast, its a real bummer that that place is gonna be no more. By the way I don't like Oceansports world cause all 3 times I've been in there (even when I bought something) the owner, or whoever the man in the store may be, has always been sorta a dick to me. (Sorry about the shrewdness of the word, lack of extended vocabulary)

i know im sorry to sound the way i did, my first board i ever rode was a 5'9" fish light wave about 3" thick lol it was fun as hell and after i ran it into ground when i was 7 i made it into a twin fin. i still ride it today on crowded days and its still one of the most fun boards ive ever had. it does suck that they are outta business but life moves on.

the lightwave surf report recording says that the strip mall will be torn down to make way for a parking garage, i guess for more tourist beach parking or condo parking? dont know. but steve is a great guy and i am sorry to see him and his shop go. he always had cool stories about hawaii and road trips to cali, and "concrete blonde" in the cd player.
besides, who else got up at 6 am every morning, rain or shine, huge or flat(mostly flat), and did a visual surf report? i hope he opens another shop sometime, as i would gladly give it my business, but the recording also said that he will not reopen. bummer...
good luck, steve, and thanks for everything...

Looks like he could still sell his boards in other shops, like AOE. No reason for Steve to quit all together.

Sad!!!!! Steve is such a cool guy. He's let me borrow boards. Given me great deals on boards. I went there first if I needed anything. I ride a orange w/ black outline 6'2" rocket fish of his and it's my favorite board for waist to head high. (wow my grammar sucks)
BEST OF LUCK STEVE.

Whenever I would stop by for some wax he sometimes wouldn't charge me or my friends.

Had lots of good talks with him about Cocoa Beach history, traveling and old cars.

Definetly gonna miss that place.
