i thought this was one of those "tell us what sucks but doesn't at the same time" threads
so the only thing i was thinking was, the drive over. sucks but at the same time, it brings me to peace

makes me appreciate the ocean that much more

I hate to be the one who says it but, suckup swells do suck. Windy, dirty, short period, drifty and small.

the gulf needs a tropical low, hopefully no wind damage or flooding but....If you have not heard ALL BEACHES IN MISSISSIPPI ARE CLOSED (21 of them) as of two days ago....RED TIDE is back and moving West to East...AL next...then FL????...hopefully this low will break up the bloom and they can reopen a beach or two....Never heard of an entire state's beaches being closed...BTW Folly Beach picks up a good suckup swell, sometimes worth the drive...

This is true and the reason is the ongoing Mississippi river flooding... they had to open the spillway above NOLA to protect the city and it has been open a record number of days ( something like 90 and the prior record was less than month ). All of that freshwater, including the fertilizers & nitrates etc from midwestern farming has been flowing into the Mississippi sound through lake ponchatrain which is what's causing the issue and may well spread east towards AL & FLa? Well let's hope this soon to be tropical storm Barry stirs up a nice little swell along with some flow in the gulf which could help dissipate that mess. And, hope no further flooding for Louisiana as little concerning seeing some of those models saying 5-10" of rain in some locations, hope not!

get up early and go surf - it'll make that hangover go away and/or make the workday more tolerable :)
