1999 was a memorable year for Hurricane Dennis and I think the year that many of us first joined 2ndlight.

I was going to host a 20th party this past summer but got busy and distracted from it. The website obviously took a hit with that virus along with other great surfing website competition (and, facebook), but we still up and running!

Yeah, uploading pictures to FB (which I said I would never do) is a bit easier...
.... but FB isn't just a surf site.

How long has FB been around?
2ndLight? 20 years. I think 2ndLight has withstood the test of time.

ugh 20 years later, one more reminder that I'm getting older and time is going by with too little surfing, too much working....

I mock people for facebook and other social media. I am a committed regular on here. I can appreciate my hypocrisy on this score.

I got a stand-up dry barrel at 6th street that evening.

It does seem that the visitation to 2ndLight.com declined markedly after it went down from the virus. Do have stats you can share about how bad it did decline?

Perusing around on the old school site is fun. I love reading the old boards for sale postings. It's like a tiny history; you can see Loehr, perhaps, experimenting with a lot of new shapes and materials. And the rise and fall of shapers' presence on the market - like BAT-AJF shapes.

If NSR went away, the surf related threads would increase in my opinion.

I think that troll farm ran more folks off than the virus.

What were the stats when we got the nice NSR break earlier this year?
