True story, back in the early 90's I was working a boardwalk amusement park in Delaware and somebody abandoned a greg noll longboard (I distinctly remember the fat man logo and large wood single fin) on the beach. Myself an another guy who surfed watched it until the sun went down and he went and grabbed it. At the time I was ambivalent about it but I have always regretted that it wasn't me that took it home...

For a short while there was a Longboard House in Cocoa Beach next to Mai Tiki (or thereabouts). He had a bunch of old longboards including two Da' Cats, a Montgomery Ward's (red, of course), a Surfboards Atlantic and a bunch of others that I can't recall. It was really cool just walking around and drooling.

Damn. I used to want one but then the world went crazy. There was a guy in California that was doing excellent counterfeits of Greg Nolls and getting big money in the early days of Ebay. Greg Noll eventually called the guy out.

fixed the link.

This the Jim Phillips take on the cat, a board that was considered more collectable than ridable. Da copycat is not susceptible to that criticism. Downsouthslider had one and I should have gotten it when I had the chance. Green, beautiful. Its now out there somewhere. I did get a Hustler though.

Randy Thomas was the owner of the Cocoa Bch Longboard house . He kept longboarding alive when NO ONE else cared about it during the 90's . He had Pat O and Claudie shaping longboards for him and Jeff Haney shaping shorties as well . He had the best collection Iv'e ever seen !!!!

Years ago, I watched an old, out of shape guy wax his pristine, split stringer, hand shaped Phil Edwards 9'-6" twin tip on the beach at 2nd Light. I asked him if he knew what he had. He said yes, and that Phil had shaped it for him. I asked him if he was going to surf in front of the rocks with no leash. He said yes. I couldn't bear to watch, so I left.

I was right.

That's ,^, as good as this: The year before Andrew one of my big brothers retired early, bought an awesome canal and Bahia Honda frontage home down on Big Pine for 175k, about a year after the big blow, realizing it just wasn't the right fit for his still in public school age kids and such associated things, they chose to move back to the desert sw, sold the place for not much more than that, last I checked back in 2010 I think, it was up again for 4 mill ~~~

The legend of DaCat model is that Dora loved Yaters Spoon model Board. Hater was a bit Leary about doing business with Dora. Yaters wife said abosolutly not so Renny passed on doing. Dora Spoon model. Knoll knew that Dor was a risk but also knew that any Dora model board would sell. Dora brought in Spoon told knoll just to copy it. This is the legend. It may or may not be true. But I can see Dora doing something like that. Greg Knoll could have looked over the Board did his take on the Yater Spoon.
