Interested in taking the family (wife, high school kid, college kid-all surf) week after christmas. Any recommendations on packages, or lodging and then build the week on my own? It's me and three females so safety is a priority.

Playa Grande is safe for family with Tamarindo across the Estuary for things to do. Its a great location for good food and chill vibe.

Its a long drive but its worth it, Santa Teresa has lots to do and places to do it.

Santa Teresa is my fave spot. I was given a house across the road from Playa Carmen, by the ditch. and a Tico was building me a technical school. I'd always start out at Jaco at the cabinas Vista Hermosa. Pic up a parcel from Kryp road then head north.

Nosara is the perfect place for a family.

I took mine there about eight years ago. Not Daytona Beach like Jaco or Tamarindo. No high rise condos. Plenty of other activities like horse back riding, zip lining etc. Lots of yoga studios for the wife. The entire beach is a national park and all building is set back a few hundred feet.

Downside is maybe the surf won't be quite as good as elsewhere, but still good surf and better surf within a 30 minute drive.
