The funny part is Anderson Cooper is on the jet ski in the smaller 20' to 30' surf and you can see by the horrified look on his face the moment that he realized that Garrett McNamara is a reckless adrenaline junky and he's taking Anderson Cooper and CBS out on the jet ski for their benefit. The next scene Anderson cooper is by himself on his own jet ski. I was laughing pretty hard at that.

I didn't know who Garrett McNamara was before this, crazy mofo. Even so I am pretty sure I would not have gone out with ANYBODY in that surf. Cooper has some big kahones for sure.

Cooper got quite a ride. And dumped early on. Props to him for being game. I'm impressed by Kalani Lattanzi who has been surfing Nazaré (not at gigantic sizes), Mike Stewart bodyboarding and paddling out under his own power (also not gigantic but still breathtaking). Farther north, Jöel Badina, a lifeguard at Anglet (SW France) has been bodysurfing/swimming some really large waves near home.

Kalani Lattanzi at Nazaré, posted today. YouTube, by JacuzziSurfer He was using a Taylor's Mistake handski, a made-in-New Zealand replica of an old NZ handplane design. Probably DaFin swim fins.

Damn. That is not your average body surf or body surfer.

Lattanzi learned how around Rio de Janeiro, where Itacoatiara has nasty slabs--good for bodyboards. Correction on fins. He's sponsored by DMC Repellor.
