I just picked up a 5'5" Catch Surf Round Nose Fish for a price I couldnt say no to. I'm hoping this little board will motivate me to get out in the 2-3ft mushy surf we've been getting consistently. Can these boards be used as actual alternatives to other grovelers in the most minimal surf possible or are they just novelty items to goof around on? I was wondering what other people's experiences with similar boards are, so share your input and opinions

While they totally seem like a gimmick (kinda my stance too) I have a good friend who surfs well, and rides that exact same board almost all the time unless there's "real" surf

They give (bend) and go on a rail unlike a classic surfboard so I put them in the Gimmick, Novelty category.

Ive been eyeing them too, not sure if the catch surf ones are worth the money or if you're just paying for pics of JOB shredding. I sold my longboard cause I never surfed it, I could use a board for the smallest waves when I feel like playing around. Curious as to how they ride.

All the years of effort designing rockers and fin placements, and this is what you are interested in? Would you buy a soft boat? soft plane? Support locally built surfboards by surfers.

I actually was surprised by how much drive my 5'5 lacked... a big reason why I posted it in the 'for sale' section but I'm gonna keep riding it and see if it grows on me
