Were getting a late start. By this time of the season we've usually had several false hype episodes. Glad to help start the hype train!

It's been a long time since I rock and rolled,
It's been a long time since I did the Stroll,
Oh let me get it back let me get it back,
Let me get it back baby where I come from,
It's been a long time been a long time,
Been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely time,
Yes it has.

European model is showing a storm forming E of Florida and passing over us on Labor Day. Possibly a Cat-1. GFS and others don't. Washington Post

Never mind that ball of red over by Africa, can't we move that Caribbean Perma-Storm into U.S. latitudes? I'm always blown away at how that little sea cranks out swell during the summer doldrums. What if the Gulf of Mexico had that windfield 8 months of the year?

Blow the dust off your board? I gotta go look to see where mine is...lol What is this "board" you speak of!? I vaguely recall I too once had something referred to as a surfboard upon which one stands on when riding the crest of a shorebound wave. Or maybe it was my imagination..... I don't recall getting any decent swell when storms are as far out as the one in the image.

Hurricane Gabriel 1989 was about 1100 miles away and gave incredible surf. Just before Hugo. This one looks further out, but then assess Hurricane Georges 1998 and it gave us 4'@18 seconds with amazing waves ... check those tracks. Although different, pretty far away for sure.

I recall that but couple things, fcst track of Florence right now shows further east than Gabrielle. Gabrielle actually became a slow mover north of Bermuda and actually tracked back to the EC for a little bit, both of which are highly favorable for us, esp. NE swells from that region under NS. NE swells as you know are far better here than E swells. On top of that, while the GFS brings this thing to a Cat 3 which is what all the wave models use, The Euro as of last 00z update only has the storm topping out at tropical storm strength. Should get long period stuff. Long Wait between sets. Glad since the propellers have not seen any use in quite a while..
The questions will be local winds, and tides. Hopefully the bottoms will behave fothe first few days

The original image isn't going to pan out, which was obvious from the start. But things are looking up. Lot of sand has been rearranged too with this persistent onshore wind.
