I think they released this footage to the public the same day or the day after the Founders Cup.

Same day. Brilliant. Competition in the artificial wave sector is real...!!!

I can't think of a better place than Central Florida to do the r&d and have a market ready and starving for consistent waves. While I don't have exact figures I can imagine the demand in our area is exponentially higher than Waco. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why they spend all this money for a pool out in the middle of nowhere, with a surf population that probably doesn't exist. I know land is probably cheap, but there are endless acres available west of I95 to develop one of these. Hell, you could probably put 6 - 8 of these pools throughout Florida and have enough demand to keep them running all day.

Yeah, and set it up so ENE wind makes the waves glassy!

the story on Stab said the wave was good , but the crowd was bad , with loads of wave hoppers dropping in on each other. Unless they can police this , it's going to turn into another situation like 1st peak in the late 70's with the wave regulators punching out a few guys.

So much for Typhoon Lagoon. lol

That looks super fun, but the water looks like blue Pepto Bismol?

A surf population that doesn't exist?

In Texas?

There ain't no surf in Texas, right?

WRONG.

I've spoken to several who have surfed in the last few days. They are loving it, but it is not the leg burner that Lemoore is (I think the ride is something of a rodeo- 8 seconds long), and when the newness wears off, I think it will wane a bit.

We'll see how it plays out.

The Lagoon, all these years later, is booked constantly. No waning. And it's the pool version of wind swell, mushy, not top to bottom hollow.

Everything else is now top to bottom, barrels, longer rides, and now multiple set waves with multiple riders. At what point will either of these new pools wane?

Wow, that looks so much more 'natural' than the California pool. I wonder if they're able to change the bottom to vary the wave faces.

I did not thoroughly review their WEB site, but I believe that they change the "shape" of the wave by changing the workings of the generation chamber.

Yes, I want to surf it. Yes, I'd love access to this in FL. But yes, surfing's about the chase, unpredictability, and I'd rather spend $60/hr. on adventure.
