Wifey wants a non-surf trip this summer and is of Norwegin descent but has never visited...So looking to drive/tour around Norway this Summer.  It has coast line and board/wetsuit rentals...there is much info on the net just looking for a first hand account of possibility of catching surf & where.  I think she would understand a detour to catch a few waves if conditions are worth it...any input from those who have been would be great.

Thx in adv for your replies..

Wow!!! Nice pic miker...N. lights, fun looking waves and midnight sun..need to start figuring out Wx patterns up there...I read summer can be good to very good.  Spent a year in Atlantic City, NJ and surfed in water temps of 40F..expecting about the same there. This may morph into a surfing trip after all.

That should be on the side of my seventies Chevy van.

I love the strategy!

This coming from a guy that chose divorce when it came down to drawing lines in the sand about surfing. Hopefully your choices don't have to come down to that....

I've been to Oslo; no surf.

Days should be long; 60 deg N lat. I was there in Dec; sunrise at 10 and sunset at 3.

The only tourist thing I did was the Munch Museum (The Scream). It was great.

I'm half Norweign & been there 7 times in my life, three of which were in the summer. Sure you can do the tourist things like the Stave Church, Bergan, etc., but its an off the scale incredible eco-tourist destination and I have been to some extreme places still not well known like hiking to the top of a mountain in the Ural Forest to overlook from the highest vantage point the Great Wall of China on the Kyrgystan/Mongolia boarder; and Norway by far tops that. This youtube will whet your appetite.

Top 7 INCREDIBLE Places in Norway you WONT BELIEVE EXIST

Its very expensive, and the dollar will drop in value by the time summer gets here. But the food is far different.  The trip is worth it just for the food. Check out my favorite place on Twitter.

Very cool video, pic and link..getting stoked..reminds me of Alaska .  As far as surfing , it seems Summer is not too good there (much like us) but you never know...Wife surfs; so not concerned about re-routing to the coast or offshore islands to surf.  Been at too many beachbreaks recently....need to surf a reef or rock slab, cobble stone point, etc. Anything other than a beachbreak.

Thanks again for the replies, Airfare is very reasonable about $500.00 round trip all summer...but I hear everything else is $$$$ so its a wash.
