Nicely put!
I am almost 4x your age and can totally *still* relate to your words. Over the years, there is one surfer who stood out to overcome the issues you had learning to surf. It was not Ke11y! I think he could surf before he ever first paddled out. No, it is Jake Kirschebaum. He was my oldest son's age so I saw a lot of him in and out of the water. When he started surfing ESA - maybe even younger than 12 - he was getting pummeled. But he never let up. He surfed every division he could, shortboard, longboard, and bodyboard. All of the sudden, Jake became a massive talent, pulling airs, figure 8 cutbacks, tubes, all the tricks. He won the mens pro at the Easter Surfing Festival at least once. The last I heard, he was engaged and living his dream in Southern Cal. Stay surfing! |
