If you are coming to Costa Rica for the holidays, you would be doing me a huge favor by bringing a car part for my Toyota truck. It is an air flow sensor, a small part, maybe 6"x6", and I would ship it directly to your house from the parts store. They just don't sell them here. I could meet you at SJO or at the beach where you are headed (OK, maybe not the Caribbean side) and hook you up with an extra $30 for your troubles. Thanks in advance, PM me if you can help out.

dude,

Have had a toyota truck for many years (17+). Alot of times those air sensor warnings are not correct. I'm sure your check enging light came on. Before spending the bucks for it, you can try replacing your gas cap. The gasket on the gas cap will wear over time and let air into the tank giving a false air sensor alarm. To get rid of the check engine light all you have to do is unhook your battery, then hook it back up. It clears out the alarms.  I didn't think the answer could be so simple but it is. If it is your sensor good luck and happy holidays....Wolfman

I wish Tom!

Regarding the sensor, no check engine light came on, but I'll check the gas cap/gasket option. The recommendation was from my mechanic, who has cred.

Couldn’t you have part shipped to Friends address here then have that friend fed it to you? How is Fed shipping or other shipping services in Costa Rica? I’m asking because At some poinnt we might move down that way.

Shipping via Fedex can cost as much as $100 and it still has to go through customs, which can delay the part. But yes, it is possible to do.
