DEC 5, 2017 — TODAY - The BREVARD COUNTY Utilities Department will make a presentation on the state of Brevard County's sewage systems and plans for upgrades at the Brevard County Commission Chambers at the Viera Government Complex, 2725 Fran Jamieson Way, Bldg. C.

This is at the Commission meeting, 5:00-9 today.

Don't know the author here but there are some mistakes in the "facts" at the website.

For example, the author indicates that Brevard has raised $600M so far with with the 1/2 cent tax.

I wish.

The tax is projected to raise about $300M over 10 years.  I think the first year was $26M.

Regardless, good getting the word out on an important issue.

More people, more sewer, and a genuine need to upgrade an aging system.

There are a lot of mistakes on that website that are unhelpful to the cause of cleaning up the lagoon.

More people, more sewer, and a genuine need to upgrade an aging system.

ditto

It is a good cause and something that really needs to be done.

For now, there really is no alternative, other to not dump and let it back-up into your house, , , , , ,.

just noticed there wasnt much activity in the surfrider category.  if surfers want clean water, then surfers need to test, post results in newspapers, bring attention to those we elect.  Yep, lazy groups will dump thier sewage into our oceans and hope they dont get caught.  its been 14 years since the fishermen had amputations from infected cuts at the cape.  who here hasnt got a staph infection in an open cuts not properly dressed?   now with the daily new batch of yankees coming down there will be even more filth in the water - and the cruise boats are running full steam.

better yet, make it mandatory for all the snow birds to pickup the trash and excessive seaweed on the beach during their time here. would make the 35 mph on A1A in less frustrating just knowing they were productive lol

That's just red tide though, not algae blooms in general.

East coast has no detected red tide right now according to those links to fwc I found further down the page.

I also notice though on the linked pdf and map that Brevard was the only county on the east coast checked last week with FDACS and MRC doing the tests. Tests for red tide were not conducted in other east coast counties.
