no doubt there are some good surfers around but wow it's going to take a lot to top the accomplishments and SERIOUSLY scary wave riding of guys like the Hobgoods or Cory Lopez

Well not sure about the guys but we got a gal starting on the tour in 2018 that has the potential to have a similar impact on the women's side.

No. Those surfer are anomalies, not within the normal range of expected talent. This is one of those weird realities that exceptional talent like that is not the kind of thing that can be forecasted to an area where the conditions seem ripe. Florida is one of the least likely places to produce world class talent on world class waves, yet we do. Its not as consistent as it was but there still exists a disproportionate of talent from florida that simply cannot be explained.

Yes definitely. What does Kelly do on Tour? He elevates the level of his peers. We thought Kelly was just the new BAR. We were not aware we were chasing the GOAT! BTW, in hindsight just happy to bear witness to great surfing and I was not in the chase.

This is my take on Florida and surfing Talent. One thing that helps young groms is that they can learn the basics in relatively small weaker surf. When the surf does show some juice they have learned some skills to help them deal with larger and juicier waves. Once they have fully hooked. They then have lots of of opportunity to travel to other locations it’s relatively inexpensive to go to Puerto Rico and other places with more challaging surf. Living in Florida is less expensive then California or Hawaii. That means you can save more to travel more. If you have the Talent Florida has some respected media to get some exposure early on.

Florida will still produce great Surfers. Other places will also Produce some great World class Talent. It might not be too long until we see Someone from Europe in the Top 10 Surfers in the world. Who knows?

Chase the dollars. Look at where the ads and spending is happening. Florida is not on that list. Lot of money coming out of Brazil now so of course they're going to push those surfers. The ending has already been written folks
