Big barreling beach break. Unpredictable wave suited for chargers who can read complex beach break waves well. I think all surfers on the tour have this skill from traveling the world and surfing dynamic waves. Kelly is undoubtably the best at this, growing up on everchanging waist high florida surf. If you live in florida, your wave IQ is exponentially higher than most, sadly because when a knee high chop mixes with a boat wake and hits a piece of the sandbar 20 yards down the beach, your insticts have already kicked in and before you know it you're up, milking any and all wave energy you possibly can out of that 1 foot "bomb". Prospects (might be on my team might not) Jordy- hes on fire but has verbalized struggle with this wave. Grew up surfing point breaks. John- has dominated this event before. barrels, turns, airs.. obviously one of the best here. gabriel- has dominated this event, 1 win 1 runner up. powerful, solid, strong, threads backhand barrels about as good as fronthand. 10 foot la graviere hes unbeatable. kolohe- flashes of brilliance here.. looking super relaxed in recent interviews. mick- solid to say the least. hasnt found his niche this year, is this his breakout event? past 2 time winner italo/ connor coffin- basically capable of what gabriels capable of if things go their way kerrzy/filipe- smaller guys but keep proving that whens its big they can perform. jeremy- darkhorse. thoughts? Final note: Andy dominated this event 3 times in a row, if I were to compare his surfing to one surfer on the tour currently, it would be John John.

You said Jeremy Flores is a darkhorse, thus SoHigh begs to differ.
John John. He wants title #2, hopefully the waves deliver what he needs. |

Let me sober it up for you frothy. He's been ripping on tour for a decade and I expect him to win.
So verily, verily, I say unto thee... Dark horse my ass. Flores... Puff puff, pass ------------------------- |

Yes love watching this event a definite variety of conditinos. My team is Conner John John Kanoa Gabby J-Flo Zeke Leo (saw a video of him killing France) Brother The tour is breaking apart in age a little maybe? The younger guys seem like they would be more in touch with the conditions in France. The juniors and all. Waves for the women's event have been good enough. Caroline M had tough matchups. Tyler Wright should probably win the tour every year but is recovering from injury (Medial collateral ligamnet 70% tear) and wearing brace. Edited: 10/08/2017 at 06:07 AM by Greensleeves |
