Is this the THE Dick Pollock from an early 70's Indialantic Boardwalk Surfer Mag shot riding a fish?
Forever etched in my memory bank.

Happy belated birthday!

I grew up in SatBch, but of course went to school with the Harbour crew. In high school, probably '67-'68, we ventured down to IHB to surf. It was a good day, head high and glassy, everyone was out. I'm paddling out, almost outside, and the pack starts paddling for the horizon. I figure I'm going to take the set on the head and start cursing my misfortune. Oh, but then it gets worse. Dickie gets to the set wave, whips his board around, and catches it fin first, maybe 50 feet in front of me. Now I'm praying for my well-being, all of us on longboards, pre-leash. Boards ghost riding and tumbling through the impact zone was always happening when it got crowded. Dickie calmly and expertly pulls off the fin first takeoff and bottom turns right in front of me and disappears down the line. Was grateful to take the clean-up wave on da' head.
