I was a big fan of the original O'neil Superfreaks/Hyperfreaks when they came out.

You could stretch them like a bungee cord and it made all the difference in not getting your nuts racked in a good wipeout.

I've been wearing them ever since, but have noticed that they don't stretch like they used to- the price has come way down (bought em direct from Oneil on Amazon) but it seems like they have compromised on quality.

This new pair I have barely even stretches- this is basically my test: if I have them on, I should be able to take a leak in the bushes just by stretching the leg opening to one side- I shouldnt have to untie the trunks.

All my past pairs did this no problem- this pair doesnt stretch in the leg enough to do it- so that sucks.

Sooo.. I'm looking for another brand anybody have recommendations? I try to get just plain black trunks- no crazy colors/patterns, and it helps if they arent frikkin $100.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just look at it as a positive bro, maybe your dick has grown...

This is definitely in poor taste, just couldn't resist...

Yep, I liked those hyper freaks also. But moved on.

I recently went to Amazon and got:

Reef Mens Southern Boardshort

$35

Great fit and stretch. Quick dry.

Mushyman LOL - no it's just always taken up this much room

"Buy surfgoods at local surf shops.... "

Sure- I'll do that when they have some truly stretchy trunks under $50 I've actually heard there are some at LBHouse that say LBH on them that are pretty stretchy- may have to resort to that.

jdb- do those reefs stretch across the leg cuff too (horizontally)?

I checked my current hyperfreaks, and they do stretch up and down the leg, but if you pull the leg cuff/opening sideways, its rigid. I dont recall my old ones being like that- they used to stretch well in every direction..

FYI- I also researched the diff between hyper and super freaks. Hypers are supposed to be the stretchiest.. :/

Go to Ronjons and ask for the locals discount. Problem solved.

Hurley has some online sales at their website; Nordstrom Rack has Billabong and Tavik, and occasional O'Neill and others (Rack in Orlando is across from Ikea, which I was visiting all the time while redoing the kitchen)

I dunno about Patagonia bargains lately.  They're now selling $100 shirts made from quick-dry boardshort fabric, or something like that.

Some leftover Depactus still available from Swell and its Australian and European versions (Surfstich and Surfdome). It can be worth checking which happens to be cheapest.  Surfstich had some nice book and video bargains.  Doesn't everyone need a Depactus kelp shirt?

Hey, nothing wrong with Old School baggies.

Remember, that which does not cramp our balls makes us weak.

I'm still wearing some old Hurley phantom stretchy shorts. Not sure if they still make them but they have been very durable for me.

Ross stores usually have loads of name brand baggies for $20 and under. Got a pair of Maui and sons for $12 and some Hurleys for $20 last time I went- both stretchy

I did a little more looking around and found the Quiksilver AG47 Trunks.

Supposedly the stretchiest on the market, and judging by the % of Elastane (20% vs 10 or less in others) they should be.

These trunks used to go for $100+ but they are selling at decent prices online now.

Ordered a pair and we'll see.

Sidenote- I was at Target yesterday and they had a rack of trunks that were actually just a tad less stretchy than my hyperfreaks and they were like $25.
