It seems that spring drought tends to be a premonition of hurricane strikes for Florida.

The odds of a major event happening in the Atlantic  this year are virtually identical to the odds of a major event happening ten years ago or ten years in the future. On a long time scale, you can say that a major event is very likely to occur, but the day-to-day odds remain virtually unchanged.

You can AVERAGE the time between events in a particular area, but there will ALWAYS be variation in the actual rates of occurrence.

That being said, you may now submit your bets for which will be the

first one to provide rideable surf on the FLA coast. Ready, GO

Andrew was the one big event in an otherwise quiet season.

I'm sure NOAA announcements like this are to raise hurricane awareness! Official start of the season starts in 7 days.

Interesting to see what a non-El Nino year does for us. We need swells for sure and of course storms to stay off the coast.
