The Board 9' tri fin square tail. Center fin 7'' EZ Kine, side bites 3.5" Furtures

Was thinking of bigger side bite fins ( how big?) and smaller center fin (how small?)

How will this set-up make the board handle? Any suggestions, experience, appreciated.

where to buy, cost to expect new and used.    Thanks

RDI

Get your shaper to hook you up with these guys on Tomohawk Dr, IHB

I have a 9'2" performance LB from Stu Sharpe.

Riding a 5.5" center with 3.5" sidebites, no complaints. Shed the volume for less drag.

I'm not really a "performance" rider, certainly not like rc ...
... and I'm sure not a "toes-over" rider either.

I'm just a surfer that just enjoys riding waves, but...
... in my 9' Walden I use a thruster fin set up, with FCS K3 fins using a FCS longboard box adapter,
so I can totally use the thruster fin set up.

It works for me. In all reality, I'm just happy to still be surfing at my age!
OK, to me, It seems to turn easier, a bit more "performance" ( I think) and I can still get to nose,
just not toes over
(but I never did that anyway)

If I go for "toes-over" I would burry the nose whatever I was riding, but that's me.
How did Burry get his name anyway???

I would listen to rc

I am with you Sunrise in that all of us 50, 60+ over appreciate every moment in the water. I really don't care what anyone else rides as long as we enjoy the ride!
After reading Dick Catri's 2013 interview in ESM, lets just appreciate our heritage and that our common thread is the ocean.

I personally like riding longboards over short and whenever someone says "performance longboard", you are speaking my language.

Sunrise, you obviously enjoy the ride and share the stoke of Tiptime!

Keep on keeping on!

The one I used on a McTavish original and stylist was twin-fin sidebites and a 6" center flex fin, would hold in almost anything even on a noseride(felt like it would slip out but didn't) and the drive off of a bottom turn was impressive!

This will sound likea plug. I am not paid by Robin Mair or gear box just impressed with his fins and outside the box ( fin box ) thinking. Check out gear Box and Hanalei fins.  He makes them to fit the two plug fin system or his own gear box system. his quad fins are all inside foiled and very responsive.

I have been using a thruster set-up for about 6-7 years. I started with K2.1. Switched to Large Simon Anderson. I tried the Harley's but went back to the Simon's. I ride a modified Mctavish original. I also use the FCS box adapter.

Thanks all for the input. I am going to keep the 3.5 side bits and drop down to a 5.5" to 6" center. I will ck out the diffent manufacturers named and hunt down some SURF.

I have a 9' Quiet Flight shaped by Reagan that has a fantastist shape.  It is a tri set up with the 3 1/2 side bites and a 7" middle fin.  I have had this board for years, anyway, It was riding a bit stiff on smaller days (3' or less) so I took out the middle fin altogether making it a very fun and very fast turning twin.  On bigger days it slides out too much and the middle fin is needed.  This board will turn on a dime with the center fin out.  I call it my 9' twinny.

Yeah Wind, I don't know Reagan personally, but have been riding his shapes for years.  Both long board and short board.  If you are experiencing what I described try taking the middle fin out.  I grew up riding twin fins and have always liked the looseness.  This may be too loose for some, but worth a try.  It's very inexpensive too.
