LA Times reports that Gov. Brown signed an execcutive order allowing the showers to come back on.  Some beaches had kept the showers working during the drought.  Some can't immediately turn them back on for need of repairs.

And it's hot and there's warnings of rip currents. KTLA

How exciting! I'll sleep much better tonight knowing that the showers are working.

Rip currents? Oh no! Sounds dangerous. Do you think they have the red flags too?

KTLA (the LA Times owns it) sends breathless reporters to the beach every time.  They did get a pretty spectacular drone or copter view of rip current people being loaded onto a boat last summer.

The shower thing is just another marker of the end of drought.  With all the filthy water at the beaches during the winter storms, it would have been nice to turn them on a lot earlier.

Newport Wedge had a respectable day, Saturday.
