I've got ~82K SPG points sitting in my account, any suggestions on smart ways to use them and score surf?

Transfer miles to Flying Blue. Round trip tickets to HNL are 30,000 miles and a $10 fee. Chase ultimate rewards, amex, SPG are all partners with the flying blue alliance. 

I wouldn't recommend transferring them preemptively to any airline. Wait until you have an exact flight picked out that you know you can book.

There are some great SPG and Marriott hotels near waves. Use Awardmapper to find them on the globe.

You have enough points for a Marriott travel package. But, if you get to 90,000 SPG points you will get better value.

I'm assuming you have a SPG credit card, you should think about getting another version, personal or business, to open up higher category hotels or more net miles.
